A rare and unique opportunity to view original works of artist John Runions, a local Alma treasure! John discovered Alma, Wisconsin in 1974 on a road trip between Minneapolis and Chicago and quickly made the decision to relocate from Chicago, Illinois ... he couldn't resist the abundance of subjects to paint.Sixty years as an artist, with 36 in Alma, John has been prolific in his artwork and we arefortunate to have gathered over 45 original works from private collectors for a summerexhibit at Wings Over Alma Nature & ArtCenter in Alma, Wisconsin.
The historic edge to John's work is evident when you see views of towns that have changed and barns & buildings that no longer exist. His line drawings of Alma's National Historic District buildings are throughout the iconic book Alma On The Mississippi.
Primarily a watercolorist, John has captured the beauty of the bluffs, the backwaters and the Mississippi River in a way that evokes an unprecedented emotional response.
