Ice on the backwaters, bald eagles and snow ... all are great Signs of Winter in Alma, Wisconsin and the local area. Can you think of others? It's been a mild winter and the eagles are spread over a large area and not congregating on the Mississippi River. Yet, there are still lots of nature viewing opportunities, so step out your door and enjoy the season.

Bald Eagles can be seen flying overhead and are widely dispersed throughout Buffalo County and the Mississippi River valley. The warm start to winter and little snow cover has changed their winter behavior and they are not congregating below Lock & Dam #4 in Alma. We'll keep you updated if the visible count increases.
